Anshuman ( Arjun) recently  qualified for KVPY - Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana 2014. He is the only Student of 12th standard of  DAV Public School, Unit-8 to achieve  this . The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing basic Science courses and research career in science.The selection process  completed in  two rounds of examination entitles the qualifiers to get direct admission to Indian Institute of Sciences, IISER,NISER to pursue research and scholarship till the completion of their higher studies .

Earlier he had qualified for NTSE also.National Talent Search Exam ( NTSE ) conducted for Class X students by NCERT ,GOI . NTSE qualifier gets  scholarship of   Rs. 1200/- per month from  Class XI onward (irrespective of class/course) except for Ph.D., It is paid  as per UGC norms. Arjun is a all rounder. He is a Musician, Singer , Artist & studious scholar. He has proved his talents in Musical Instruments   like Guitar & Tabla, sings English  songs and paints  many eye catching Arts. He has also completed Diploma in Art. God bless him to be a  Super Scientist .

Members of VOSS92 congratulate quiz champion Master Snehashis Panda & his proud parents.

Master Snehashis Panda is the proud son of Samita Panda(Pol.Sci), Asst. Secretary of VOSS92 & Dr. Suvashis Panda(Specialist Ashwini Hospital(Navy), Mumbai) . He is a 1st year student of Electronics and Telecommunication Department of  D.J Sanghvi  College of Engineering   at Mumbai. Recently he has been awarded  Rupees one lakh  as Cash Award by Tata Crucible 2015 , one Sony Cyber short camera and  gift coupons as the  Regional final winner Mumbai and stood third in the west zone final. He is the youngest Champion among Mumbai champions till date. Few days back he has also  won the first prize as National winner  in All India University Level Quiz held at INDORE .

VOSS92 organised cleanliness drive at Udayagiri & Khandagiri Cave on 14th March 2015 in association with Archaeological Survey of India as a part of Swachh Bharat Aviyan of Prime Minister of India.

  As per schedule Members of Vanivihar Old Students Society 1992(VOSS92) and Archaeological Survey of India team headed by Dr. Bhuban Vikram , Superintending Archaeologist, Odisha Circle started cleanliness drive at Udayagiri & Khandagiri Cave in time as a part of Swachh Bharat Aviyan . Sri  Binay Kumar Dash, Sub Collector , Bhubaneswar has graced the drive as special guest. The team cleaned the premises of Udayagiri Cave, Rani Gumpha, Hati Gumpha etc and educated some visitors to use dustbin instead of throwing paper & wastage food  items here & there. Dr. Susanta Kumar Kar , Dr. Sushree Mishra Vikram  & Dharanidhar Nanda also briefed about the historical importance of these caves. VOSS 92 Advisory Committee members Pitabasa Jena, Arun Kumar Ghosh, Manoj Kumar Rout, Convenor- Gadadhar Rath, Secretary-Babita Kar, Asst. Secretary- Samita Panda,  Org.Secretary -Arjun Charan Biswal,  & active Members-Bimbadhar Sethy, Deepak Kumar Biswal, Nivedita Prusty & Pranati Padhy have participated in the program.

VOSS92 is doing some social activities in association with some other departments of Union Govt./State Govt/PSUs etc.Last year also we have organised a Seminar on Hobby Collection on the eve of  'Kranti Diwas' on 9th August 2014 at Rotary Bhawan, Bhubaneswar in association with India Post. Students of about 24 Schools of Bhubaneswar locality had participated in the seminar.Director Postal Services (Hq) had graced the seminar as Chief Guest.

This is an opportunity for us to organize this noble programme   jointly with Archaeological Survey of India. So all members present/available at Bhubaneswar are requested to participate in the said programme actively . All may try to reach the venue by 9AM positively to make this programme grand success. Women Scientists Of Drdo Have To Play Greater Role In Girl Education – Smriti Irani

         Minister of Human Resource Development Smt Smriti Zubin Irani has asked the women scientists of DRDO to play a greater role in promoting girl education and bringing a change in rural lives. Inaugurating a National Workshop on “Women Innovators for Excellence in Research and Science” Winners-2015 on the occasion of International Women’s Day, here today, she said women scientists can be a source of inspiration for countless girls who seek opportunities to realise their dreams. She said her Ministry has launched the Udaan initiative to prepare girls coming from disadvantaged sections to excel in competitive exams to enter IITs and IIMs. Some of the brightest minds in DRDO can interact with girls who are trying to take flight. 

The Minister said the women scientists of the premier research organization can also contribute to the success of the ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyan’ mission and address issues confronting women in rural India. The programme was launched last year piloted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) across the country with an aim to improve the lot of rural India through technological interventions. 

Speaking on this occasion, Distinguished Scientist & DG (Aero Systems) Dr. K Tamilmani said that there is growing realisation that limitations of women’s access to resources and decision making also limits their ability to develop and exercise their full capabilities for their own benefit for the society. This realisation has prompted efforts to equalise opportunities for men and women, he said. 

Earlier, in his welcome address, Outstanding Scientist and Director, Centre for Fire, Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) Dr. Chitra Rajagopal said “Innovation grows in an environment, where one is free to experiment and learn by trial and error.” She further added “Innovation is the process of translating an idea or invention into products or services that create value.” The two–day National Workshop was hosted by Centre for Fire, Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) and over 200 women scientists from different laboratories of DRDO participated.

They are managing their house, children education & office without rest. A family can't be said as perfect without their cooperation. Mother is the first teacher of the child. Mother is the creator of  home, family, society & state. They are taking pain to give pleasure to all family members. We must salute them for their endless efforts. VOSS is also growing with help of women members. VOSS expects more involvement of women members.
